System Requirements ----------------------------------- -See our Web site for current operating requirements: http://www.aecsoft.com/products/mobile/fasttrack/sysreq.asp Installing ----------------------------------- As with any software installation, turn off automatic virus checking and close all applications before installing. ***IMPORTANT*** Before installing FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS, you MUST have already installed Palm Desktop software and you MUST have successfully synchronized your handheld organizer with your Palm Desktop software. ***IMPORTANT*** Only one version of FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS can exist on your handheld device at one time. This means that if you have any version previous to 8.0.6 and want to run the demo or a registered copy of a later version you have to completely remove the previous version from your handheld - there is no way around this. If you are upgrading from an earlier version, even in demo form, please read "Upgrading from a Previous Version" - located directly below "Installing" in this document. To install FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS 8.0.6 for Windows: >From CD-ROM- 1. Insert the CD in the CD drive. 2. Wait for a dialog to automatically appear. 3. Select the "Install FastTrack Schedule 8 for Palm OS" option. 4. Follow the instructions on screen. ***Remember - you must perform a HotSync(r) at the end of the install process to successfully install FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS on your handheld device. [*If the CD Auto Run does not work, do the following: 1. Insert CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. 2. From the Start menu, choose Run. 3. Type "d:\palm\install\disk1\setup.exe" and click OK. (Substitute the letter of your CD-ROM drive, such as "e:\palm\install\disk1\setup"). 4. Follow the instructions on screen.] [*Windows: If the installer is unable to put the FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS PRC file into your Palm Software "Install Handheld Files" dialog automatically, you will have to manually install the FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS PRC file. Follow these steps: 1. Open your Palm Desktop software. 2. From the View menu, select Install Handheld Files. 3. Select your user name from the User drop-down box, if it is not already selected. 4. Click the Add To List button. 5. When the dialog opens, navigate to the folder FastTrack Schedule 8 (typically in Program Files). 6. Within the folder FastTrack Schedule 8, open the folder FastTrack Schedule for Palm. 7. Within the folder FastTrack Schedule for Palm, open the folder BackUp. 8. Within the folder BackUp, select the file FastTrack Schedule.PRC. 9. Click the Add File button. 10. Perform a HotSync(R). The application FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS should now be installed on your handheld device.] To install FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS 8.0.6 for Macintosh: >From CD-ROM- 1. The application FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS should now be installed on your handheld device.] Upgrading from a Previous Version ----------------------------------- Only one version of FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS can exist on your handheld device at one time. This means that if you have any version previous to 8.0 and want to run the demo or a registered copy of a later version you have to completely remove the previous version from your handheld - there is no way around this. You can have more than one version of FastTrack Schedule on your desktop. So before installing the newer version of FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS, do one final HotSync(r) with the same version numbered desktop application. (Ex. Synchronize your handheld 7 files with the FastTrack Schedule 7 desktop application.) This way you can preserve you older palm files when you upgrade. Your copies of FastTrack Schedule, the desktop application, and FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS must have the same version numbers. If you are running FastTrack Schedule 8.0.6 and wish to synchronize files with your handheld device, then you must be running FastTrack Schedule 8.0.6 for Palm OS. Please perform installation of FastTrack Schedule 8.0.6 and FastTrack Schedule 8.0.6 for Palm OS in the following order. 1. Open FastTrack Schedule 7.0x, the desktop application. 2. From the Tools menu, choose Palm Manager. 3. In the Palm Manager dialog remove, or create and then remove, all files from the "Files to Synchronize" table. 4. Uninstall FastTrack Schedule 7.0x from your desktop computer. 5. Delete FastTrack Schedule 7.0x from your handheld device. 6. Install FastTrack Schedule 8.0.6 on your desktop. 7. Run the FastTrack Schedule 8.0.6 desktop application and open any 7.0x files you had previously synched with your handheld device. 8. Save these files as 8.0.6 files. 9. Install FastTrack Schedule 8.0.6 for Palm OS on your handheld device. 10. Perform a HotSync(r) with your handheld device. 11. Run FastTrack Schedule 8.0.6 on your desktop and open the Palm Manager dialog. Add the files that you wish to open on your handheld device to the "Files to Synchronize" table. 12. Click OK. 13. Perform a HotSync(r) with your handheld device. Demo & Activation of Full Application -------------------------------------- When you install FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS, you initially have the Demonstration version of the program. The Demo version expires after 30 days. To fully activate the program, you need a Serial Number and an Activation Code. Activation is completed on the Internet via a web browser. If you do not have Internet access, call AEC Software, Inc. at 703-450-1980 and speak with a Customer Service Representative. To activate FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS : 1. Install FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS . 2. Go to the URL http://www.aecsoft.com/support/registration/registration_palm/. 3. Enter your Serial Number, and click Next. ***You should have received a Serial Number from the vendor when you purchased the program. 4. Enter your Device ID, which you can find in the About dialog of FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS. 5. Click Next. 6. Fill out the online Registration form, and click Next. An online form containing your Serial Number and Activation Code will appear. 7. Confirm that the information is correct, then print the form and keep it in your records. 8. Open FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS on your handheld device and, in the About dialog, tap the Activate button. 9. In the Activate FastTrack Schedule dialog, enter your Serial Number and your Activation Code on the lines provided. 10. Tap OK to close the Activate FastTrack Schedule dialog. 11. Tap Continue to close the About dialog. Note: You can access the FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS About dialog from the Options menu, which is available in every screen of FastTrack Schedule for Palm OS.
